Glenn Hasse graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1963. With a $1,000 loan from his father, Glenn started Ryt-way on May 1, 1965 in Northfield Minnesota. Today Ryt-way is one of the nation’s largest contract packers of dried food products, with revenue of approx. $60 million in 2004. The company is located at 21850 Grenada Ave. in Lakeville. Facilities include a 200,000 square-foot distribution center located at 21855 Cedar Avenue (relocated in 1988), a 140,000 square foot manufacturing facility located at 21850 Grenada Avenue (relocated in 1993), and the Corporate Headquarters located at 21750 Cedar Avenue (relocated in 1999). Glenn has had a major impact in the economic development of industrial property in the Airlake Industrial Park, as well as being one of the largest employers in Lakeville. The company employs approximately 480 full-time employees and uses up to 200 temporary workers when required. Ryt-way is a contract packager of food and food compatible products for major manufacturing and marketing companies. Those customers primarily supply the ingredients and packaging components, and Ryt-way manufactures the final product. Ryt-way’s capabilities include stand-up recloseable pouches (press to close zipper and slider), cup and bowl lines, multiple fill on horizontal and vertical packaging lines, in addition to batch or continuous blending systems, cup wrapping, planning/purchasing project support and warehousing. Ryt-way has also made major contributions to the community and Chamber in particular. They joined the Chamber in 1993 and have been involved as a company ever since. Ryt-way has also been a major sponsor of the Chamber Golf Tournament, Fall Gala, and donated items for the Teacher FAM Tours and Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts. Glenn Hasse and his staff have also made significant contributions to organizations such as the Lakeville Pan-O-Prog festival, Lakeville Arts Center, Lakeville Education Foundation, United Way and numerous athletic teams. Glenn is married to his wife of 37 years, Kay Hasse, and is assisted in the operations of Ryt-way by his son Tim. Glenn is involved with the University of Minnesota, most recently as a member of the Carlson School of Management Alumni Board of Advisors. In his spare time, you will usually find Glenn on a golf course.
